Fraxel® DUAL

Fraxel^® laser treatments are ideal for those who are over the age of 35 and are eager to improve their skin tone and texture, reduce unwanted fine lines and wrinkles, erase sun and age spots, or improve the appearance of acne and surgical scars.

Downtime is minimal—generally less than one week. Some patients return to their normal routine, including work and social activities, just one day after treatment. Others may require a little more time. No two patients’ experiences will be identical.

Naturally, skin variations can affect treatment outcomes as well as cost. However, Cosmetic Laser Centers℠ staff may also be able to use unique settings on different areas, offering a patchwork treatment for ideal results. Some benefits are seen immediately, while other treatment results are progressive. Shortly after each treatment, you will notice your skin feeling softer and smoother, more even-toned, and more luminescent. However, over 3-6 months post-treatment, you will notice more improvement as the deeper layers of your skin create new collagen.

 Typically, redness and swelling are the most common side effects—similar to those of a mild sunburn. On the off-chance swelling does occur, it’s usually minor and typically only noticeable the day after treatment. Potential adverse reactions will be discussed  at your consultation prior to treatment.

The number of laser treatments required can vary from patient to patient depending on the severity of the condition and the desired outcome. Clinical studies suggest that an effective laser treatment regime is four to six treatments, spaced approximately four to six weeks apart. Some require more or less to achieve optimal results.

There can be some occasional discomfort associated with Fraxel^® laser treatments. A topical anesthetic will be applied before the treatment to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. Additionally, an air-cooling device is used to make the treatment more comfortable. Some patients liken it to getting a tattoo or a prickling sensation. Following the procedure, most patients feel a sensation similar to sunburn, which usually subsides in a couple of days.

Swelling generally will subside within two to three days. It is also common for patients to experience redness, flaking, and peeling following treatment with Fraxel^®. Generally, you’ll need to allow up to one week for these signs to  resolve.  Limiting sun exposure and thorough sun protection are a must at all times, but especially after Fraxel^® laser resurfacing treatments.
